There’s something special about the way the last light of the day settles over the inlet in Port Moody.

When I first moved back to Canada after several years living overseas, Port Moody became a place of comfort and familiarity during a time of transition. I spent countless evenings walking along the shoreline, watching the light change over the water and the mountains fade into the distance. Those walks gave me a sense of calm and connection when so much else in my life was changing.

Last Light on the Inlet was inspired by one of those beautiful summer evenings, when the water catches the warmth of the setting sun, the mountains turn soft shades of blue and violet, and everything seems to become still for just a moment.

This painting is both a celebration of a place I love and of those quiet moments in nature that have a way of making us feel at home.
